Program Note: 

Love is one of the most powerful emotions, and it exists in a variety of forms. The purest selflessness and the deepest recesses of the mind can be expressions of love. Will Your Love Wither Like a Flower depicts the subject longing for devoted love from another person. You probably assume love between two people; however, when I conceived a new idea for this composition, my beloved dog, Boreum, was my inspiration.

Dogs give us their love unconditionally. When I am home, the time does not matter to him. At any moment of the day, he is delighted to see me. He jumps up and down, licks my hands and face, and brings his favorite toy. While you listen to this music, you don’t have to picture the love between a person and a dog. You don’t have to be a dog parent to listen to this music. Love is the most personal feeling, and you should interpret it as your own story.

But I want to raise public awareness that there are countless dogs abandoned and surrendered globally, which breaks my heart. So, the question “Will your love wither like a flower?” is actually from our family dogs. Don’t give up on them, and please commit to the relationship for the life of our four-legged family members.
