Program Note: 

Without a Second Thought was the piece I composed during my first semester of the DMA program at UMKC. I had to adapt to a new environment—a new city, a new school, and a new everything. I was under a lot of pressure and had to navigate a demanding schedule of deadlines and responsibilities. I channeled the stress of these experiences into the composition, using them as a guideline for the music’s direction. Once I came up with its bombarded rhythm and intricate textures as a starting point, the music just flowed intuitively—without a second thought. I portrayed my ineffable inner thoughts and experiences that transcend language and logic, and as listeners, I invite a journey of self-discovery and introspection.
